More People traveling to Spain
An increasing number are choosing Spain as a destination. The number of visitors has increased steadily in recent years, a trend that has continued in 2015. During the first nine months, the entire 54.3 million people visited the sunny country. That's 3.8 percent more than the same time last year and an increase of around two million. The most popular destinations are Catalonia, the Balearic and Canary Islands, followed by Andalusia, Comunidad Valenciana and Madrid. Britons, Frenchmen, Germans and Scandinavians tops the list of visitors.
Over 12 million Britons have until September this year visited Spain. This is the largest group visitors, followed by French (9.2 millions), Germans (8.3 million) and Nordic nationalities (3.7 million).
The figures are based on the Spanish industry and tourism ministry's monthly calculations at border crossings (FRONTUR) and shows so far that total 54.3 million people have visited the country. The six most popular regions, Catalonia, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Andalusia, Comunidad Valenciana and Madrid, accounting for over 49 million of the total.
Spain came for the first time over 60 million visitors in 2013 (60.7 million). The following year the figure increased to 64.9 million, a record that again comes before a fall if the annual trend continues. Spain is the third most visited country in the world after the US and France
